I have a problem that is not clear to me I guess with the Intel G33 i915 video drivers.
Upgrading from 15.4 to 15.5 opensuse leap
I have freezes while navigating through the system menus and mainly I can’t launch graphics programs for pcb creation which didn’t happen in previous versions.

Reproducible: Always

Please provide information about your system:
1-install package inxi if not already installed: sudo zypper in inxi
2-update inxi: sudo inxi -U
3-copy and paste here input/output from an Xterm running "inxi -GSaz --vs"

I installed pcb and started it, though only nominally more because I know nothing about using it. When open the average CPU in top was about 7%. It did nearly the same thing on same PC in Debian 12, installing electronics-pcb and pcb. When opened there max in top was under 10%.

I don't understand what you installed... PCB? By pcb I mean a program with graphics for the creation of printed circuits (PCB). Specifically, I use Autodesk Eagle 9.6.2 64 bit version and when I launch it from the terminal it gives me the error "Could not initialize GLX" and obviously in graphics it doesn't even try to start. In opensuse 15.4 no problems whatsoever apart from some additional libraries to install.
Nothing to do with the graphics problems in moving normally through the system menus with freezes, pauses, or jitters when simply opening folders etc... I really think that the problem lies in the graphics drivers of version 15.5.... none CPU overload problem...

Summary : CAD Program for the Design of Printed Circuit Boards
Description :
pcb is a CAD (computer aided design) program for the physical design
of printed circuit boards. It has an autorouter, a trace optimizer a
design rule checker and many more features. It can create RS-274-X
(Gerber), Postscript, EPS and PNG output files.

It was obviously the same app I opened in Debian.

I know gEDA PCB but I don't see the connection...I use a different PCB program but I believe that the graphics problem does not depend on the PCB program but for example on the MESA i915 driver or similar...then it is probably a consequence of Eagle 9.6 .2 doesn't start but it's strange that it doesn't start in version 15.5 and in 15.4 I don't have the slightest defect of the problems described previously... any ideas to resolve the situation?

Is there any news for possible solutions?

Good morning,
I tried to update to version 15.6 something has improved but there are still some freezes and I still get an error "Could not initialize GLX".....

There's no need to litter any bug report by quoting 10-30 lines for every comment line added. Reports are more readily attended when comments are concise.
Comment 11 Takashi Iwai 2024-07-01 08:35:23 UTC
The failures don't look like a kernel issue, per se.
Let's check from user-space side at first.
Comment 12 Stefan Dirsch 2024-07-01 08:51:16 UTC
G33. This is hardware from 2007.

Mesa-dri package not installed? Please check this.

And for testing OpenGL

  glxinfo -B

will be enough for now.

So i915 driver is available.

The Mesa-dri package has always been present and all the problems already described have remained the same.
As already said in version 15.4 there are no such problems

I don't get this. You could then try also

  eglinfo

for which you need to install Mesa-demo package.

Did I already split this off to Mesa-demo-egl with SP6. Ok. I thought this didn't happen before Tumbleweed, but could be.

Seems sooner. I don't know how to tell with certainty what in oS 15.5 came via which SLE SP:

As discussed it's Mesa-demo-egl package. So, have you tried that? Results?
