Bugzilla – Bug 1225854
Package libgpod does not build with gcc14 because of new errors
Last modified: 2024-07-08 07:52:09 UTC
GCC 14 newly by default treats as errors a number of situations which before were only warnings. For more information see https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-14/porting_to.html and meta bug #1220571. Because of this, package libgpod fails to compile. This can be seen online at: https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/openSUSE:Factory:Staging:Gcc7/libgpod/standard/x86_64 It can be reproduced locally with command: osc build --clean --alternative-project home:rguenther:nextgcc We seem to need at least https://sourceforge.net/p/gtkpod/patches/47/ The following Gentoo bugs are however also listed as relvant: - https://bugs.gentoo.org/919219 - https://bugs.gentoo.org/885349 - https://bugs.gentoo.org/926995 The (first) error (that halts the build) is: [ 22s] generic-callout.c: In function ‘get_info_from_usb’: [ 22s] generic-callout.c:667:14: error: type of ‘usb_bus_number’ defaults to ‘int’ [-Wimplicit-int] [ 22s] 667 | static char *get_info_from_usb (usb_bus_number, usb_device_number) [ 22s] | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [ 22s] generic-callout.c:667:14: error: type of ‘usb_device_number’ defaults to ‘int’ [-Wimplicit-int]
