U-Boot configurations that use CONFIG_BOOTSTD_DEFAULTS or CONFIG_BOOTSTD_FULL no longer find the device tree file on the disk (they pass on the builtin device tree instead).  Either the patch 0001-XXX-openSUSE-XXX-Prepend-partition-.patch needs to be ported to BOOTSTD or the boot setup needs to be changed.
