Bugzilla – Bug 1226495
Thunderbird 115.12.0 wasn't supposed to be released?
Last modified: 2024-07-12 12:30:09 UTC
Tumbleweed has just updated Thunderbird to 115.12.0. Doing Help, About, Release Notes brings up https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/115.12.0/releasenotes/?uri=/thunderbird/releasenotes/&locale=en-GB&version=115.12.0&channel=release&os=Linux&buildid=20240614163201 which states "Thunderbird 115.12.0 will not ship and is being superseded by Thunderbird 115.12.1", which is a bit worrying! Hopefully 115.12.1 will come soon, but in the meantime, is 115.12.0 safe to use?
Apparently, upstream prematurely uploaded 115.12.0 build2 to the releases. According to upstream chat: > there's no application code changes in build 3.. it's automation process fixes and windows installer signing changes They did now release 115.12.1, which basically only bumps the version number, as 115.12.0 was already "released" and couldn't be overwritten with build 3. So, 115.12.0 is fine to use. Wolfgang will probably update anyways to 115.12.1.
