KDE Plasma freezes randomly
Last modified: 2024-07-04 20:47:27 UTC
Created attachment 875725 [details] Environment information I frequently put my PC to sleep and hibernate. For at least two, times in last 20 days, KDE Plasma frozen in lock "screensaver mode" screen when restoring. The virtual terminal (TTY) still working normally while Plasma is frozen. I tried to restart Plasma (systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell.service), but execution timed out. A regular reboot make things back to normal.

Looks like an issue about DRM scheduler stuff. Adding graphics guys to Cc.
I've been getting freezes as well lately, on regular Tumbleweed. But I'm not using hibernation, so I don't know if it's the same thing or a separate bug. For me, Plasma will freeze shortly after start, and then it remain completely frozen for about 10 minutes, and consume 100% CPU. Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240625 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.3.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 Kernel Version: 6.9.6-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor Memory: 62.7 Gibyte of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: ASUS
Maybe it is not directly related to sleeping or hibernating. After around 4 days of usage, during a KDE Plasma session, it started to freeze the windows and when new ones were opened it just showed the frame of the window with the title bar, but with no content. When the window was required to close it didn't respond and the "kill or wait" dialog was showed. The virtual terminal (TTY) still working normally while Plasma is frozen. I tried to restart Plasma (systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell.service), but execution timed out.
