Bugzilla – Bug 1227880
Firefox crashes often when in a Wayland session
Last modified: 2024-07-20 15:58:03 UTC
This began with the update to Plasma 6. I'm currently using Firefox 127.0.2 with nvidia driver 555.58.02. When I start Firefox from a console I get this error when it crashes: "Wayland protocol error: wp_linux_drm_syncobj_surface_v1#49: error 4: explicit sync is used, but no acquire point is set" I'm currently on Plasma 6.1.2. I checked the openSUSE forums and apparently this isn't a widespread problem, but it's happening to me.
This is maybe fixed with Firefox 128 as already in the mozilla repo and requested for Tumbleweed inclusion a few minutes ago. Please report back if that one works for you.
I just installed Firefox 128 from Mozilla since it's still not available via zypper and it crashed with the same Wayland error. Is there a chance this won't happen with the openSUSE version?
Recently Firefox crashed in Wayland but I got a different error message: [Parent 13133, Compositor] WARNING: Call to mmap failed: Bad file descriptor: file /builds/worker/checkouts/gecko/ipc/chromium/src/base/shared_memory_posix.cc:515 ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump attempting to generate:/home/xxxxx/.mozilla/firefox/ulwpogxd.default-release-1/minidumps/0e1af11f-3dd3-7448-d663-c43ab2fbc95d.dmp ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 16067 ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child ExceptionHandler::WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal...
