growisofs fails writing double-layer media
Last modified: 2005-11-05 10:43:02 UTC
Just tried to burn double-layer DVD iso image with growisofs. Result was that burn process bailed out when device was supposed to switch layers. No error was reported to syslog. Device: External HP DVD writer 640 USB 2.0 'Lightscribe' device
I have experienced similar problem with single layer DVD+R, external ATA burner GSA-4120B in ATA over USB case. Burning runs, bot does not complete. Burning of DVD+RW was OK. sbrabec@hammer:~> growisofs -Z /dev/sr0=SUSE-10.0-DVD-SRC-RC4.iso Executing 'builtin_dd if=/cml/install/iso/10.0/SUSE-10.0-DVD-SRC-RC4.iso of=/dev/sr0 obs=32k seek=0' /dev/sr0: "Current Write Speed" is 8.2x1385KBps. 1114112/4693618688 ( 0.0%) @0.0x, remaining 491:23 1114112/4693618688 ( 0.0%) @0.0x, remaining 701:58 ... 4675895296/4693618688 (99.6%) @2.7x, remaining 0:02 4680646656/4693618688 (99.7%) @1.0x, remaining 0:02 builtin_dd: 2291808*2KB out @ average 4.3x1385KBps /dev/sr0: flushing cache :-[ SYNCHRONOUS FLUSH CACHE failed with SK=3h/ASC=A0h/ACQ=80h]: Input/output error No message in syslog.
