Bugzilla – Bug 128030
open source packages missing in the OSS edition
Last modified: 2005-10-25 14:01:04 UTC
The following packages are on the retail DVD but not on the OSS ftp tree although their license tag claims they are open source software. IPAGothic (GPL) IPAMincho (GPL) IPAPGothic (GPL) IPAPMincho (GPL) IPAUIGothic (GPL) kernel-xen-nongpl (GPL) xcin (GPL) castor-doc (BSD) castor (BSD) castor-demo (BSD) castor-javadoc (BSD) castor-test (BSD) castor-xml (BSD) ldapjdk (MPL) ldapjdk-javadoc (MPL) scribus-templates (GPL) yast2-pervasive_postgres (BSD) Thus either they should be added to the OSS edition or in case the license tag is wrong it should be fixed.
castor, ldapjdk, and all other (free or non-free) Java packages require a non-free Java runtime environment, see http://www.opensuse.org/Package_Repositories Nevertheless it seems castor and ldapjdk are missing at http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-stable/inst-source-java/
these both had a problematic license, I believe. Juergen, is it true ? Mike, are the IPA* packages really GPL ? kernel-xen-nongpl has definitve a wrong license tag .... Andreas, can you fix it ?
scribus-templates is OK for me. What is the problem? Is it Requires: bitstream-vera? It is a weak dependency - some of the templates use Vera font. But RPM has ho Recommends:, so I have added it to Requires:.
well, "Requires" is "Requires". this means that a normal user is not able to install it without an error popup. castor*/ldapjdk* depend on java (as stated before) yast2-pervsaive-postgres: aj said to skip it. xcin also depends on something not in the OSS tree.
ldapjdk had a license investigation, see bug #100276 but it was only a misleading text in a documentation file.
Adrian>Mike, are the IPA* packages really GPL ? No, they have a commercial license but can be distributed bundled with "grass". I'll attach the license.
Created attachment 53940 [details] license-ipafonts.english License of the IPA fonts.
The IPA fonts are not GPL, I must change that in the grass.spec file. They are built as subpackages from the grass.spec file and inherited the License tag from the main package, which is wrong. But as they can be distributed with grass, I think they can be added together with grass to commercial extra packages: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/10.0/SUSE-Linux10.0-GM-Extra/
Fixed for scribus-templates. Now it does not require bitstream-vera. Should I do anything else to get it back to OSS?
scribus-templates added to oss-ftp configs
Please, consult missing yast2-pervasive_postgres with aj and/or with meissner.
i have nothing to do with yast2-pervasive_postgres
everything, except the yast2-pervasive_postgres has been solved. AJ, should we add it ?
You can add audacity to oss-ftp, too. It has removed mad support.
Rudi, let's add pervasive to the OSS tree as well...
ok, added for EDGE ftp tree. closing
