Bugzilla – Bug 128236
Typos in various package descriptions.
Last modified: 2007-11-12 13:22:37 UTC
Referring to http://www.novell.com/products/linuxpackages/professional/index_group.html , just few corrections: ---->> gnupod 0.98.2 (collection of Perl-Scripts wich allow you to use your iPod) wich -> which iwidgets 4.0.1 (Widget Extention for Tcl/Tk) Extention -> Extension koffice-devel 1.4.1 (The build enviroment from KOffice) enviroment -> environment koffice-i18n-es 1.4.1 (Spanish translations for KDE) for KDE -> for KOffice libebml 0.7.5 (libary to parse EBML files.) libary -> library libopensync-plugin-evolution2 0.17 (Evolution 2 syncronisation plugin for OpenSync.) syncronisation -> synchronization subdomain-profiles 1.2 (AppArmor profiles that are loaded into the subomain kernel module) subomain -> subdomain <<----
Rebecca, it might be a good idea to check the desciptions as well.
I am working on all the descriptions I could get right now. Hopefully this will result in fewer typos and improved consistency.
I tough that _one year_ should be more than enough to fix these reported issues and now the very same appeared in summary fields of packages from openSUSE 10.2 beta1 as well: Name : iwidgets Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 4.0.1 Vendor: SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Nuernberg, Germany Release : 252 Build Date: Mon Oct 23 18:25:37 2006 Summary : Widget Extention for Tcl/Tk Name : koffice-devel Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 1.6.0 Vendor: SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Nuernberg, Germany Release : 12 Build Date: Tue Oct 24 16:08:52 2006 Summary : The Build Enviroment from KOffice Name : libebml Relocations: /usr Version : 0.7.7 Vendor: SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Nuernberg, Germany Release : 18 Build Date: Mon Oct 23 17:05:19 2006 Summary : Libary to Parse EBML Files and of course also on http://www.novell.com/products/linuxpackages/professional/index_group.html for 10.1 :( Could you please spell-check all the summaries/descriptions once?!
Since the typos won't be fixed for 10.1, I update this bug to 10.2 beta1. I also upgraded the severity - this is not an enhancement, but a bug. Rebecca: If you don't find the time to check all package descriptions, please fix at least those that are listed in this bugreport. (removing myself from CC - I read the opensuse-bugs mailinglist anyway)
Sorry about the delay responding to your concerns, but I have been out sick. I share your desires to improve all the package descriptions. Unfortunately, I have a number of projects and I have to balance priorities. So I have worked on many descriptions, but it may be another year or two, depending on my work load, until I've gotten through all of them. If you want specific errors in specific descriptions fixed, I need you to file individual bugs assigned to the maintainer of the described package (the descriptions are maintained in the packages, not as a separate entity) describing the problem and CCing me. Then we can resolve the specific most urgent issues and I can continue working to improve the overall base as time permits in my workload. I'm sorry that I can't provide a better or faster solution to these problems.
Martina, this bug is for you :) Please proceed as discussed by mail.
I proofed the packages and changed the ones that haven't been changed so far.
