Bugzilla – Bug 128411
Kuickshow lost "delete picture" function in viewer window
Last modified: 2007-07-12 10:16:51 UTC
Kuickshow used to have a function to delete the currently viewed picture in its viewer window. This is very useful for sorting out digi-photos: Look through them with PgDn and PgUp and get rid of bad photos (unsharp, people walking through the main motive, whatever) with one key press: Hit the "Delete" key and after a confirmation popup the image was gone. The Kuickshow we ship with 10.0 lost this function: Nothing happens when you hit the "Delete" key in the viewer window. There is also no item "Delete picture" in the context menu. "Shift-Delete" (the shortcut for "delete picture" in the browser window) also does nothing. After some investigation it turns out that there is a way to restore that behaviour, even though it is awkward and most likely depends on another bug: There is no action "delete picture" in the "viewer shortcuts" tab of the "settings" dialog, but if you change the "delete picture" in the "browser shortcuts" tab from "Shift-Delete" to "Delete" and confirm the warning that the "Delete" key is assigned to the global "move to trash" action, "Delete" again deletes the current picture even in the viewer window (after a confirmation popup, of course). There is still no "delete picture" item in the viewer's context menu, though.
lets see if I can find some time for this..
I can imagine that a real fix might not be so easy, but we should at least provide an SDB article about that. I am sure I am not the only hobby photographer and kuickshow fan who is (was) really frustrated about that. This issue minimizes the use value of kuickshow for efficient use when sorting out digi photos.
I just sent a mail with the workaround to sdb@suse.de . This should take care of the SDB article.
has been fixed for 10.1
