Inserted data CD in internal SCSI CDRom and get a dialog from suseplugger which 
tell me a new harddisk for /media/cdrom is detected. The device is correct 
detected in HAL.

I need a machine with such a CDROM - I only have IDE and it works fine

I must set up this machine for test this. I do this if we have a real Beta4 and let you know then the state.

The machine died on a hardware defect. Can't reproduce this anymore. I close the bug as INVALID.
