Description Bjoern Jacke 2005-10-17 12:04:00 UTC
mounting volumes by label is very usefull in environments, where the partitions
can change from time to time. Swap is also mountable by volume name but yast
does not offer this in fstab options.
Comment 1 Michael Gross 2005-10-17 13:41:03 UTC
What do you mean exactly? Of course, swap space cannot me mounted. And a swap-partition cannot be labeled, because the superblock of a swap-partition does not support a label.

Closing this as invalid.

Before reporting a bug next time, please ensure the vailidity of your report. If you ment something completly different: Express yourself in a (more verbose and exact) way so misunderstandings can be avoided.

you might want to call "man mkswap" to see how to enable swap volume labels, sorry I might have pointed to the mkswap man page earier, I thought this would be obvious to do if you don't know about the feature. And of course you don't mount swap, you enable it :-)

Here you see an example fstab entry:

LABEL=myswap     swap         swap       pri=42         0 0
Comment 3 Thomas Fehr 2005-10-18 10:03:13 UTC
It is up to the Project managers to decide about addition of new features.
Comment 4 Andreas Jaeger 2006-01-04 10:03:29 UTC
This is ok to add - but I expect this will be done for 10.2.
Comment 5 Thomas Fehr 2006-01-09 11:51:36 UTC
Will consider it for 10.2
Comment 6 Thomas Fehr 2006-01-18 12:57:26 UTC
Thorsten Kukuk wants this for SLES so I will implement this feature for beta#2.
Comment 7 Thomas Fehr 2006-01-18 14:38:21 UTC
Will be available in beta#2
