for linking with other products I need files like mysql.h, mysql_version.h and
mysql_config. The usual package for this files is mysql-devel-*.rpm. I can't
find this file on my SUSE-Linux-10.0 dvd.

Last released SL10-RC4 DVD candidate has package mysql-devel-4.1.13-3.i586.rpm with all requested files. Please double check your DVD please (which version of SL do you have?).
