Description a b 2005-10-19 17:46:42 UTC
When minimal graphical install is done TWM is the default windowmanager even
when others are selected/available.
This is a big problem for new users since they have no ieda how to chnage the WM.
A configuration point 'choose WM' would help a lot.

Hmm, this behavior is intentional because in a minimal graphical
installation neither KDE nor Gnome is installed. yast will choose a
default in that case and this default is XDM and TWM. We have currently
two choices:

1) fvwm2 is installed because this one is used for the installation
   process as well

2) windowmaker is installed but very bad internationalized

The question is what do we prefere ? Is a novice user able to use fvwm2 ?
I will change the default if we agree to one default.

Thanks

The problem is that TWM leaves the novice user without a clue what to do. i had 2 people with these problem.
I would suggest adding a selector for default_wm if xdm is selected.
Neither WM nor FVWM2 is a back choise in the sense that its clearly a wm started
and ppl will be aware there is a logical way to continue.

(As long time user i would prefer fvwm2 in place of WM.)

I changed the default from twm to fvwm2
