Description Dale Ogilvie 2005-10-22 07:49:09 UTC
Playing kolf, the sound system artsd suddenly uses up 100% of the CPU,
eventually dying with a "cpu overloaded" message. Continuing on after this
nastyness, the game seems to play normally...

In control center, sound & multimedia, sound system, if I try and test the
sound nothing happens, no sound is played. If kmixer is running, then the
system behaves the same as in kolf, i,e 100% CPU is consumed.

My hardware is an MSI-K8TNeo, using the Via 82xx driver.

Hmm, I thought it's been fixed, but apparently not.

Anyway, you can basically disable artsd (sound server) on KDE since the device supports multiple playback.

This bug should have been fixed in the latest version.
