Description Richard Farthing 2005-10-23 10:30:04 UTC
Screen defaults to 800 x 600
Hwinfo reports it as 800 x 600 also
Using latest A16 BIOS
Screen is actually 1024 x 768
Refuses to take manual config to correct resolution
Graphics subsystem is ATI M1 (8M RAM)
Comment 1 Michael Radziej 2005-10-24 09:53:27 UTC
Can you please attach the output of hwinfo and the /var/log/YaST2 directory (as a tar file)? Please take a look at http://www.opensuse.org/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#YaST
if you have any questions about this.
Comment 2 Marcus Schaefer 2005-10-24 13:04:11 UTC
if Hwinfo reports 800x600 no more information is available. If the
notebook supports 1024x768 please send the information from

 hwinfo --bios

to steffen... reassigned

output of hwinfo

NOTE - I have disabled ACPI (using APM) as I have a related issue that closing the lid leaves the screen powered ON (blank but backlight using power/generating heat while I'm using remote login). APM switches off backlight. However in both ACPI and APM modes the resolution is wrong.
