Description Richard Farthing 2005-10-23 10:46:01 UTC
Runs up YAST2 with a blank screen after selecting an RPM using the actions...
install with yast... option
Does not install the RPM - have to do it manually.
Comment 1 Michael Gross 2005-10-24 14:05:56 UTC
Please be a little more verbose: Does nothing happen at all? Do you get an error-message of some sort? Please show us a way to reproduce this.

OK you get a blank YaST screen after selecting an RPM package in the file manager
I seem to have fixed this by adding the directory of the RPM file to the "installation source" (using button in YaSt control centre, so now it will install from that directory, but now I get a message "installation source not refreshed" each time I start YaST2. Not sure if this is a bug or feature or what.

Jiri: Can you give any clue here? I'm not sure if this is `all right', specially the part about the `blank screen'. Thanks.
Comment 4 Richard Farthing 2005-10-25 20:49:44 UTC
It's "all right", so long as you add the installation source directory first. Which is non-intuitive of course. If you don't, you get the YAST2 screen with no software titles listed, no option to install anything

The refresh popup is another bug, which AFAIR has been fixed for 10.1.

I still have no clue what's wrong with the installation. "selecting an RPM package in the file manager" is nothing that would involve YaST. Please, be more verbose, and attach
- the YaST logs
- the YaST commandline (get it via /proc filesystem, or via eg. 'ps' tool.

I need your feedback, otherwise I'm not able to solve your problem. Thus marking the bug as INVALID.

Plase, reopen, if you can provide the requested feedback.

Please note that #164572 is about 10.1 beta9 while this bug is about 10.0...
Comment 10 Jiří Suchomel 2006-05-23 10:47:18 UTC
I doubt it is a duplicate, as reporter in the other bug states it worked in 10.0.
But anyway this one is invalid due to lack of info. Additionaly, it probably wouldn't be fixed for 10.0 as it is not major bug.
