Bugzilla – Bug 130206
Installation process cannot find soundcard
Last modified: 2006-03-27 15:22:17 UTC
My sound card is Intel HDA (ICH6M), RealTek HDA as Windows says. It was detected with no problems during Alpha1 install, but is not detected with Alpha2 new install. I tried to choose this card manually from list during installation, but installer says "unable to load sound driver".
Can you please attach the output of hwinfo and /var/log/YaST2 directory (as a tar file)? Please take a look at http://www.opensuse.org/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#YaST if you have any problems.
I'd need the log from 'hwinfo --sound --log=xxx'.
Please, install package yast2-hardware-detection, it might be missing in your installation. It should solve the problem with card detection. (It seems that there is an dependecy problem in aplha2 regarding to yast2-hardware-detection package.) Then try to configure the sound card again and report the result here.
Created attachment 55494 [details] Hardware Information (full)
Created attachment 55495 [details] /var/log/YaST2 directory
Information was provided, but NEEDINFO not reset.
Hardware detection sees the card. If the problem still exists, reopen.
