Bugzilla – Bug 132473
k3b not able to use cdrecord with hotplugged dvd/cd-writer
Last modified: 2007-06-04 16:39:32 UTC
I'm using a hotplugged (ieee1394) dvd/cd-writer with k3b. k3b is not able to use cdrecord, probably due to lack of permissions, for writing CDs. Since k3bsetup is not available there seems to be no way for the user to fix this. Usual tricks such as suid cdrecord, or adding write permissions to /dev/sr0 have no effect. The system is a IBM Thinkpad R40e (details of the system in bug 129954), the ieee1394 interface is a pc-card: 02:00.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): VIA Technologies, Inc. I have no problems burning DVDs as user (although eject fails). No changes if DVD/CD-write is attached after boot or if present at boot time. The k3b debug file will be attached to this bug report.

Ludwig, looks like resmgr bug, do you agree?
just a missing property in the hal-resmgr fdi file. An update is in the works. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 135602 ***
