Bugzilla – Bug 132486
amarok fails to detect "empty" iPod
Last modified: 2007-07-12 10:17:09 UTC
after deleting all mp3s from my ipod, hitting the "connect" button in amarok says that it can't find the ipod. makes it impossible to add mp3s to a completely empty ipod. if i use gtkpod to put a couple mp3s back on, amarok can magically detect it and write stuff to it again.
This is still the case with SUSE Linux 10.1 It also happens when you restore the iPod to factory settings (using the respective Windows or MacOS application provided by Apple). I found that gtkpod has an special menu item called "Create iPod directories" to address this issue. When selecting that menu, gtkpod asks "OK to create the following directories?" /media/ipod/Calendars /media/ipod/Contacts /media/ipod/iPod_Control /media/ipod/iPod_Control/Music /media/ipod/iPod_Control/iTunes /media/ipod/iPod_Control/Music/F00 ... /media/ipod/iPod_Control/Music/F19 You can download the program that is used to reset an iPod to factory settings from <http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/> in case you want to reproduce.
this got fixed with 1.4.4. can you confirm?
considered as fixed until proven otherwise.
