Modem devices removed during upgrade 9.3 to 10.0

The modem devices ttyACM(x) were removed during the upgrade. OS is retail version. Hwinfo lists the device, and indicates it is attached to ttyACM0. Note the modem is a USB device. Can you reproduce the problem when upgrading to 10.2 or some of the 10.3 Alpha snapshots?
can you also write hwinfo output from 9.3? what drivers you modem use?
