Bugzilla – Bug 134174
yast online update mislables patches
Last modified: 2006-04-27 12:16:54 UTC
The list of patches in yast online update uses inconsistent one-line-description strings. Examples: "Realplayer 10 for linux" - good: names affected package, bad: reason missing, "Ein mächtiges Paket zur Graphikkonvertierung" - bad: no package name, no reason. good: language honored "Reduzierter Speicherverbrauch beim Aufbau der Collection" - bad: no package name, good: reason given. Below the list is a box 'Patch-Beschreibung' that accuratly lists package name and defects fixed. But the checkbox where the user selects patches is with the above one-line-description listing. Please put useful information there too.
Sounds more like inconsistant patch descriptions. Can you add a screenshot please ?
Created attachment 57646 [details] screenshot of you-online update. (partly in german, sorry :-))
you-online-update shows the package name already in three corners of the screen. But not, at the top left, where the users focus is. So simply adding the package name without any redesign is suboptimal.
We are aware of this problem and intend to fix it for Code10.
That's really a problem of creating the patch descriptions - nothing we can fix consistently on the YaST2 / YOU side.
Lars - how much effort is needed from your side to make "SUMMARY" mandatory in the patchinfo file and consolidate it with the maintained patchinfo files in the way to rename it to "INDICATIONS" for BOX, too?
Hm. Make it mandatory is just a patch in /work/src/bin/check_patchinfo Consolidation needs to be discussed, I think. Let's discuss this and the other changes after my holidays. ;-)
Well, seems like the discussion came to a sudden stop about 2 month ago. I'll close this bugzilla. Please continue talking (if you intend to...:) in FATE...
