using gaim-1.5.0-10 I connot log into gwim
I get the error message

Unable to make SSL connection to server.

I can still use the aim and irc components without problem.

I have no proxy spe specified in my gnome proxy settings.

Could try -12 (works here at least)

Reassigning to hpj for more investigation

gaim-1.5.0-10 installed here this morning and this fixed the problem for me. I wasn't able to connect to any server (GWIM, Jabber), and this fixed all of them.
