Bugzilla – Bug 134519
smbfs and unicode
Last modified: 2007-10-08 15:26:41 UTC
When I mount smbfs share via smb4k (I use the suser-guru rpm) with Unicode activated I see that files' name on the mounted share are completely wrong. It's not the charset, they just does not have anything to do with the real share content. I have tried with many samba server (debian sarge, gentoo, suse), with the same result.
Lars, can you have a look please of what may go wrong here, and help diagnose? I'm not familiar enough with samba.
Could you please try to use cifs instead of smbfs? smbfs is no longer maintained while cifs is. A share containing unicode filenames mounted with cifs works well.
As this works with cifs I adjust the severity to minor.
No reaction on this bug for a long time. Closing as CANTFIX.
Wontfix is right as smbfs got removed from the SUSE kernel. Please use cifs instead.
