Vsftpd dies on first command executed:

ftp> cd /var/log
500 OOPS: cap_set_proc
250 Directory successfully changed.
500 OOPS: vsf_sysutil_recv_peek
Connection aborted by remote computer.
ftp>

IP address/route was configured manually (as SuSE scripts have problems, bug #134590), there is no firewall enabled.
Vsftpd runs on a Pegasos PPC machine.
