If I use nautilus-sendto to attach a file to a mail, the attachment bar doesn't show up.  If I attach another file from the composer window, the attachment bar shows up, with both attachments.

To clarify:  it does attach the file from nautilus, and it sends just fine, I just don't see the bar, so I get worried that nothing was attached.

This bug is a consequence of http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323129 and has been fixed in Evolution 2.4.2.1.
