On my powerbook the fn key does not work, therefor quite a number of actions/keys are not available (e.g. page up/down, actions on function keys like brighter, louder)

I don't see a xevent, nor anything in /var/log/messages

Just tried pbbuttons 1.7.2 from /mounts/work/SRC/, yet still the same

you can try the sles10 kernel, it has some changes

this works with 2.6.16. tested with beta2 kernel.
