Description S. Handgraaf 2005-12-03 04:47:24 UTC
The preview images of Themed Greeter "Novell Linux Desktop", shown in the Login screen setup tool, is very different from the greeter itselve.
The screenshot shows a Novell style greeter while the supplied greeter is a customized version for a previous suse distribution.

It seems the Novell Linux Desktop greeter was used as a template for a non-Novell desktop greeter while all descriptors like Novell name, description,Novell preview picture stayed the same.

We're using a different theme for SL 10.1 and SLED 10, and the preview matches the actual greeter.

Problem has actually not been fixed in OpenSuSE 10.1 final:

Greeter selector still shows a screenshot of the original Novell branded theme while the theme itselve has no signs of Novell in it.

While the actual greeter is not the same as the Novell Desktop greeter,
the greeter is still called "Novell Linux Desktop",
has a description "Theme for Novell Linux Desktop",
a copyright notice "© 2004 Novell, Inc."

Solution:
Please put in the real Novell Desktop greeter, or further adapt the implemented theme so it does not give the impression it is the Novell Desktop greeter.

This is fixed in 10.2 alpha 5 at least.
