Description Me Private 2005-12-05 20:51:31 UTC
After installing a fresh copy of SuSE 10.0 with first reboot the grafic interface does not appear. There was a notice tnat there were no proper grafic regim for ATI X600 and there were no chances to run suse in graphic regim.
I tried Mandriva 2006 , the system gives me right to choose beetwen two drivers - "radeon" and "fglrx" , the Mandriva recommended "radeon" driver and everything went right with GUI , I tried the other one as well and system did not respond correctly. So the second driver is not appropriate for ATI X600.
SuSE does not gives me chance to choose the driver after SuSE 9.3 so the system loaded fglrx driver , which is not compatible with ATI X600 and I have no chance to enter level 5.
Please let me know what I have to do to have GUI with SUSE 10.0 and ATI X600 card as I am great fan of SuSE I wanna keep using it.

Thank you in advance.

Please attach the output of `hwinfo --gfx' and attach your YaST logfiles located in /var/log/YaST2. The YaST people will look into that.

To work around your problem, you can manually choose the correct driver, either by editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf or using sax2 which can also be started when no X11 is running (boot into runlevel 3 by using just a `3' as boot append line).

Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED.

In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
