Description Jens Benecke 2005-12-09 20:09:28 UTC
Hello,

I configured a DSL router with suse 10. I tried renaming my external network device (a rtl8139 card) to "RTL8139-extern", instead of the usual "eth-id-xx:xx:x..." naming convention.

This confused pppd after saving the configuration and configuring DSL (PPPoE):

ec 9 19:28:31 linux pppd[9132]: RP-PPPoE plugin version 3.3 compiled against pppd 2.4.3
Dec 9 19:28:31 linux pppd[9132]: Plugin passwordfd.so loaded.
Dec 9 19:28:31 linux pppd[9132]: unrecognized option 'RTL8139'

Removing this network card and re-configuring it, without renaming it worked fine.

Please investigate this.

Thank you! :)

Jens
