Description Martin Schmettow 2005-12-17 20:13:05 UTC
Xen refuses to start the Xen Kernel with a message like:
"Xen will only start Kernels prepared for Xen3.0" and reboots after a few seconds.

This is the according menu.lst entry (manually edited, to make sure the correct files are used):

title XEN15
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /boot/xen-dbg-3.0_8073-2.gz dom0_mem=129024
    module /boot/vmlinux-2.6.15-rc5-3-xen.gz root=/dev/hdc1 splash=silent showopts
    module /boot/initrd-2.6.15-rc5-3-xen

I can confirm this. The exact message is:

....

I will reassign this to the maintainer of Xen and take the kernel team into CC.
Comment 4 Gerd Hoffmann 2005-12-20 11:31:36 UTC
It's because the kernel-xen in HEAD is on 3.0-release level already,
but the xen hypervisor package(s) in STABLE are not updated yet.

As soon as Clyde has committed the xen updates it should work again.
Using 3.0 binaries from xensource.com works too.

The Xen updates have been submitted and have also been posted to http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/project/?xenpreview
