Some kde apps are not able to print to pdf correctly
for example konqueror and krita (i found this behaviour in krita #140387)  end with:
A print error occurred. Error message received from system:

Abnormal process termination (gs -q -dSAFER -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=$out{/home/thidney/print.pdf} -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -c .setpdfwrite -f '/tmp/kde-thidney/kdeprint_JUFiWSxW' ).
But in some (kwrite) apps it work corectly .
Print preview (which i think is pdf preview) do not work at all (i did not find any kde app)
