Bugzilla – Bug 140779
kdebindings3-python package needing python-qt Dependency Error (AGAIN)
Last modified: 2006-01-03 11:58:26 UTC
Please do not just close this case saying it is a duplicate, the problem is back again. Please sync new .RPM packages through YaST. When trying to install the 3.5.0-8 or 3.5.0-7 kdebindings3-python package from either YaST or downloading the SuSE rpm for you it get a dependency error needing python-qt, but if you look at the change log it shows that python-qt was split on Nov 24th. if you install ignoring changes you will break hplip and SuperKaramba theme (Aero AIO) since they rely on PyQt and that part is lost when doing the upgrade. Package 3.5.0-5 works fine, but upgrading from any version to the versions listed above fails. PLEASE fix, since I now don't have 3.5.0-5 nor can I install 3.5.0-7 or 3.5.0-8 and am stuck with 3.4.2-8.
Sorry, but it looks like you are doing some stuff with supplementary packages that you are not supposed to do (+ which is not supported). If this happens with a Alpha/Beta build of SUSE Linux 10.1, this needs to be fixed of course. Do the KDE people have any comment on this?
I am doing nothing wrong with Supplementary Packages, look at the version of Python-QT up and look at the version of kdebindings3-python. Python-qt is set to 3.5.0-8 and kdebindings3-python is set to 3.5.0-9, what does that mean? kdebindings3-python is looking for python-qt v. 3.5.0-9 and python-qt is looking for version kdebindings3-python 3.5.0-8. The reason 3.5.0 needs python-qt as a package is because it obsolete's PyQt Also as far as I understood it, KDE Supplementary packages were supported.
I have removed the release requirement now, it should go out in the next days.
