When installing Suse linux 10.0 I get the following error

Installation of package desktop-data-suse-10.0-2.noarch failed.  

As a result, the Gnome and KDE desktops do not install properly and SUSE does not work.

How can this problem be fixed?

Could you please be a bit more specific.

What is the exact error message?
Can you reproduce this error on this machine or other computers?
Did you use original disc media or did you burn the OSS release? If so, please perform a media check to make sure it has no errors/defects.
