When I upgraded my SUSE 9.3 to 10 I lost the sound.  I had no problems in v 9.3.
YAST disovers this card as 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller. I have tested it with modified options ac97_quirk = -1 to 7 and buggy_irg =1 but no sucess.

Please search bugzilla for   ac97   (search in comments) - there are lots of
bugreports around this. Maybe you can then mark your report as duplicate ;-)

It has started to work when I switched off the Headphone Jack Sense and Line Jack Sense in the Kmix
