read it from my lips:

You have to use the helix engine.

Comment 5 Chema Ollés 2006-01-23 09:30:22 UTC
I read your lips but you don't read my message from 2006-01-14:11 MST.
I instaled helix engine for amarok and amarok doesn't play anything.
Is amarok-helix 1.3.8-4 better than the old version?
And on the other hand, if helix is the answer why to bother itself in putting arts in the distribution, no?
This it is a site of bugs, if arts fails, I do not believe that the answer is, uses helix...
regards
PS
You have very pretty lips... ;-)

I use beta 1 and the helix-engine I got from the Extras-dir did not work because the paths were not set correctly, I am not sure wheter SuSE can change anything about that, but it is certainly a bug!

Also: You have to download RealPlayer.

The paths for the module are set to:
/common
/plugins
/codecs

They should rather be:
/usr/lib/RealPlayer10/common
.
.

After that amarok played the tracks, yet I could not hear anything. I tried a few times and it worked finally. arts has nothing to do with it.

The helix-engine supplied via Extras seems to not be able to use alsa, which might be a bug.

Forgot to mention. If RealPlayer is not yet a dependency of the helix-engine package, that might be an idea.
