Amarok on AMD64 (using Helix engine) stops playing after 1 song (even if the playlist is full :)

Adrian says this is a known issue, but there appears to be no duplicate.

 ------- Additional Comment #1 From Mark Kretschmann 2006-01-12 09:02 -------
It's a bug in the 64bit Helix engine supplied by SUSE. We recommend to use xine engine with libxine from the packman repository instead.

can we do a YOU fix (if small and possible)?

should be fixed now (10.0 rpms - please test them oldboy-dmueller-1534)

10.1 beta7:
amarok now hurries through the playlist, spending 0.5s on every song, making no noise whatsoever. This for x86_64, in i386 it works perfectly.

This might be a configuration problem on the machine. But the "yast2 sound" test works, I can cat files to /dev/audio (as root). Any hint for useful log files on what is happening is welcome, as are suggestions on how to further analyze the problem.
Comment 5 Dirk Mueller 2006-03-13 15:28:51 UTC
which flavour of 10.1 are you talking about? can't be SL10.1. please update the product accordingly.
Comment 6 Lars Vogdt 2006-03-13 15:31:17 UTC
Comment #4 looks more like missing codecs on the machine. Which files are selected to play? All required codecs installed?
Comment 7 Rasmus Plewe 2006-03-13 15:33:32 UTC
Why do you think it can't be SL10.1 beta7? Because it is.
But.
I now re-checked with SLED10 beta7, same effect with banshee as music player -> can't be an amarok problem. Closing again, sorry for the noise.
Comment 8 Rasmus Plewe 2006-03-13 15:35:45 UTC
Lars: That would be possible. Being naive I thought .mp3 files should be played. Or, if not, that there would be a proper error message. Should I reopen again, asking for an error message upon missing codecs?

That the i386 version is working is no contradiction, I updated that one (the x86_64 are new installations), and mp3 worked prior to the update.
Comment 9 Dirk Mueller 2006-03-13 15:41:16 UTC
I'm wondering because there is no helix at all on SL10.1, and you're likely using xine engine (you should have checked). and our xine doesn't have libmad support -> no mp3 can be played.

I guess you haven't tried playing ogg's.
