Description Kurt Garloff 2006-01-12 18:16:04 UTC
Installed the 8259 snapshot for 10.0 on x86-64 and found two problems:
- I see the machine freezing (when using the desktop -- nv driver)
- Starting ntpd, you immediately get
peth0: received packet with own address as source address
ntpd[24019] bad frame in sigreturn frame:00007fffffd85058 rip:2aaaaaecdd35 rsp:7fffffd854a8 orax:ffffffffffffffff
  and the process dies with
  select(8, [4 5 6 7], NULL, NULL, NULL) = ? ERESTARTNOHAND (To be restarted)
  --- SIGALRM (Alarm clock) @ 0 (0) ---
  rt_sigreturn(0xe) = 0
  --- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---
  Process 24019 detached

As I have seen invalid frames from X in the logs, the lockups could be related
to the same underlying problem, thus the mentioning in one report.

I think this particular x86-64 issue is fixed on the latest 8628 deliveries on Xen Technical Preview because we did not see this problem in our testing here in Provo. Please verify this, Kurt, if you can, and post a comment.

I'll test.

Have you had a chance to test this yet?
Comment 4 Kurt Garloff 2006-03-08 01:34:08 UTC
Yes, it works now.
