Description Rasmus Plewe 2006-01-16 13:21:21 UTC
When playing an mp3 playlist in amarok, the audio volume gets set to zero at the beginning of every track.

This seems not to be always reproducable for other people (who report things like amarok stopping after every track) so you may close this bug as unreproducable (although you could come to my desk to watch this behaviour), but I nevertheless wanted to document that.
Comment 1 Dirk Mueller 2006-01-16 13:31:42 UTC
can you check if this is a duplicate of 114687 ?

Comment 2 Rasmus Plewe 2006-01-16 14:13:48 UTC
Could be, although it does not reset to the level it encountered during startup (because I set the volume to max in kmix prior to starting amarok) but to zero.
Comment 3 Stephan Kulow 2006-02-04 19:26:40 UTC
Sigi still has the same problem he says
Comment 4 Dirk Mueller 2006-02-07 19:57:56 UTC
you're using x86_64 and helix backend?
Comment 5 Dirk Mueller 2006-02-08 01:50:27 UTC
no response. assuming this is the x86_64 bug.

I'm using i386.

I discovered that the volume-reset happens also when starting an audio feed in realplayer.

This does not seem to be a duplicate of 143358 to me.
Comment 7 Dirk Mueller 2006-02-16 12:35:11 UTC
when exactly does the volume reset happen? how do you start realplayer? do you have amarok running in parallel when using realplayer?

does it happen on first time after starting realplayer (realplayer indeed remembers a volume level and tries to restore it) or after each song? the latter should have been fixed by this update.

I start realplay by:
realplay rtsp://213.200.64.226/farm/*/encoder/swr3/livestream.rm
I have no other sound application running at the same time, except for kmix.

When realplayer starts to play the stream, the volume is set to zero. When the stream is interrupted and restarts (automatically, not manually) the volume is reset to zero again.
Comment 10 Dirk Mueller 2006-02-16 14:14:35 UTC
in the GUI as well (the slider moved to the far left?)
Comment 11 Rasmus Plewe 2006-02-16 14:20:10 UTC
Both in the kmix GUI and the realplayer GUI the volume slider is set to zero.
Comment 12 Dirk Mueller 2006-02-27 15:34:40 UTC
ok, but thats a realplayer bug then, nothing amarok can do about it. There is a workaround in amarok's SVN for it though, so if you can reproduce that with amarok it would be worthwile fixing.
Comment 13 Rasmus Plewe 2006-03-09 18:11:07 UTC
Appears to be fixed in 10.1 beta7. Both for Amarok and RealPlayer.
Comment 14 Dirk Mueller 2006-03-15 17:36:00 UTC
ok then. no idea what the problem is though.
