Bugzilla – Bug 144610
Installer fail when installing OSS 10.1 via network/samba
Last modified: 2006-02-24 17:17:09 UTC
The installation fails when installing OSS 10.1 beta 1 on x86_64. During second phase (After reboot), the installer seems to look for some kde packages on the wrong CD....(Message file not found...) Tested with a network installation (OSS boot CD + Samba installation + ISO images mounted on a file server)
Please attach the YaST log files. This did not happen during my several installations, so I need more details.

I tried again to install OSS 10.1 beta2 and I still have the problem. This time the installer fails on another rpm than before... It seems that this is related to installing OSS 10.1b2 via the network using Samba. It seems that the installer "loose" the connection with the samba server at some point, and this, always on the same rpm. So, my first analysis was wrong, and I changed the title of this bug to better reflect what the problem seems to be. I also downgraded the criticality I will upload the new Yast log files later BTW, I was successfull to install OSS v10.1b2 via NFS (Same Server, but this time I expanded the ISO files into soem shared directories) !!!

Can you reproduce the problem with Beta4? The package manager was replaced for Beta4... If you can, please, attach the logs...
???? The "Most Annoying Bugs" for beta 4 explicitly say: "...Network Installations: smb/cifs does not work, http, nfs and ftp do work..." An you want me to test an smb/cifs installation??? I wanted to skip beta4 and give a try to beta5 if no such statement appear anymore.
Sorry, forgot it. In this case let's wait for Beta which has this problem fixed...
Just tested Beta5 and it installs properly, thus resolving the bug as FIXED. Please, reopen and attach logs if you still have problems with Beta5.
