Description Forgotten User 7L3tOtZIov 2006-01-21 15:30:41 UTC
It would be nice to have some PC speaker sound when the machine reboots, so you do not have to pay attention all the time if you are working on another nachine (e.g. on the same monitor) This could go from a simple beep to a "nice" tune.

it's already there, but disabled.

/etc/sysconfig/suseconfig:HALT_SOUND="no"

Please have a look at the component - houghi is talking about the _installation_. I doubt /etc/sysconfig/suseconfig will be read before the very first reboot of installation ;-)

I agree with houghi that a sound would be useful at this moment - but please some seconds _before_ the reboot, so that you can still stop it if needed). Maybe a success sound after all packages of the first CD are installed?

@houghi: sometimes it's better two write some more text ;-)

i agree with your last comment :-) sorry, for the misunderstanding.

i'm happy without all noises, and you can hear a reboot even without sounds (floppy drive, cd/dvd and hardisks all make some different noise at reboot)

maybe an option in the advanced config, disabled by default.

but this is only my opinion, assigned to maintainer

Added "/bin/echo -e '\a'" just before showing the popup with the 10-second timeout. For 10.2.
