Bugzilla – Bug 144724
unable to create users with an empty password
Last modified: 2006-12-11 16:12:11 UTC
It isn't possible to create users with an empty password using yast. I've set in yast in "security options" the minimum number of letters for passwords to 0 and have disabled the check for complicate passwords (palindrom). I'm able change the password to an empty password using the "passwd"-command on the console. This should also be possible using yast.
Ferture request -> stano
I'll check again
after 10.1

Stano, please move this to FD as mandatory features for SP1.
Proposal: do not ask user for confirmation of empty password when minimal passwor ed length is set to 0 (currently the module asks user to confirm password shorter than value potentialy set in pam_pwcheck). Is it fine?
(actually yast should only really allow secure defaults and just not reduce the password size at all or even allow disabling of dictionary checks). the solution you propose is fine I think. the security issue needs to be fixed too, but sp1 is fine.
Fixed in yast2-users-2.13.21
