Description Michael Stather 2006-01-23 10:28:33 UTC
Currently they start at startup no matther whether there´s a cable connected or not.
Changing this wouldn´t have any draw3backs IMHO but some advantages, e.g. I can plug the cable after starting the system and it´lll work, as well as plugging into a different network while running (dhcpcd will fetch a new IP address for me then).

We're not going to change this.

The solution for changing networks is NetworkManager and for static networks it will stay as is.

Does "changing networks" also cover simple ethernet links?Or just wireless networks?
IMHO it doesnt make sense to enable a network card/interface when there´s no cable attached to it. No matter whether it´s managed by network manager or not.
Or am I able to manage such networks also with network manager in 10.1?
