Bugzilla – Bug 144767
NTFS not mounted automatically
Last modified: 2006-01-31 11:07:23 UTC
Installing SUSE 10.1 Beta 1 on a machine with WinXP already on it. NTFS partition not added to fstab, no /windows directory created. However, WinXP added to GRUB menu. Note: during install, YaST2 didn't repartition disk. Instead it installed into free space after NTFS partition.
Please attach your yast2 logs and your /etc/fstab as well as the output of `fdisk -l' and `hwinfo --disk'.

Please note that this is a VMWare system. # fdisk -l Disk /dev/hda: 5368 MB, 5368709120 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 652 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 1 238 1911703+ 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/hda2 239 277 313267+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/hda3 * 278 652 3012187+ 83 Linux # hwinfo --disk 12: IDE 00.0: 10600 Disk [Created at block.188] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_00000000000000000001 Unique ID: l_yX.C_TirkYEeJ6 Parent ID: ESW+.2kE1GEmwX42 SysFS ID: /block/hda SysFS BusID: 0.0 SysFS Device Link: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:07.1/ide0/0.0 Hardware Class: disk Model: "VMware Virtual IDE Hard Drive" Vendor: "VMware" Device: "Virtual IDE Hard Drive" Revision: "00000001" Serial ID: "00000000000000000001" Driver: "PIIX_IDE", "ide-disk", "ide-disk" Device File: /dev/hda Device Files: /dev/hda, /dev/disk/by-id/ata-VMware_Virtual_IDE_Hard_Drive_00000000000000000001, /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:07.1-ide-0:0 Device Number: block 3:0-3:63 BIOS id: 0x80 Geometry (Logical): CHS 10402/16/63 Size: 10485760 sectors a 512 bytes Geometry (BIOS EDD): CHS 10402/16/63 Size (BIOS EDD): 10485760 sectors Geometry (BIOS Legacy): CHS 651/255/63 Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #5 (IDE interface)
As this is a virtual machine, lowering the priority and reassigning.
The attached y2log file only contains the last steps of installation (after first reboot), the partitioning and proposal stuff ist of course done before reboot. Please attach also y2log-1, y2log-2 from /var/log/YaST2 (or simply tar the whole directory).
Not easy to be sure without logs, but this will probably be fixed in beta#3. Please reopen and attache complete logs if this still happens with beta#3.
