Description kalman kemenczy 2006-01-23 20:21:15 UTC
There are some untraslated part in the gnome control center, nautilus, gnome desktop panel which is not part of the gnome 2.12.2.
Gnom 2.12.2 is fully translated by Hungarian community and Novell PSH.
How can we translate the other stuffs to make complete the translation processes?

There was no infrastructure to translate strings from patches. I have just created a set of simple utilities for creating a compendium for updating po files.

Translated po file for novell related gnome components.

Please find the attached po file which also sent to Antje Faber and Karl Eichwalder.
Comment 7 Stanislav Brabec 2006-02-03 13:25:46 UTC
Infrastructure is done.
Hungarian translation is submitted.

Reassigning to me to add gnome-patch-translation to the standard translation process for SLES10 and SuSE Linux 10.2. It's too late for 10.1.
Comment 8 Kalman Kemenczy 2006-02-10 15:45:08 UTC
there is no chance to directly add to the memory?
Comment 9 Stanislav Brabec 2006-02-13 12:34:10 UTC
Hungarian translation is already in the Autobuild. I will add it to LCN repository too.

What does by mean excatly by "directly add to the memory"?
Comment 10 Kalman Kemenczy 2006-02-14 20:52:55 UTC
I am sorry, I thought this is *not* in the Autobuild. Sometimes someone could put the translation directly to the translation memory (or whatever) ... but I was wrong...

Comment 11 Stanislav Brabec 2006-02-15 13:51:31 UTC
Now it is also in LCN. https://svn.suse.de/svn/lcn/trunk/gnome-patch-translation/

Please verify clarity of README's description of the workflow.
Comment 12 Kalman Kemenczy 2006-02-21 12:20:13 UTC
I just check the beta4. In the Gnome Control Center the following labels still in english: Hardware, Look and Feel, Personal, System.

However this issue was already solved in NLD9 SP1 or SP2.
Comment 13 Stanislav Brabec 2006-02-21 14:18:19 UTC
It seems that infrastructure for translation is missing there. I have to find a proper place to add the translation.
Comment 14 Stanislav Brabec 2006-02-21 17:10:22 UTC
Translation of this stuff should come from .directory files. These files were existing in past (SuSE Linux 9.2), but in days of moving them from control-center2 to gnome-menus, there were not moved.

I have revived them from control-center2 20050126 snapshot, edited a little and added to gnome-menus package, where preferences.menu now resides.

The rest can be done by the standard gnome-patch-translation work-flow.

Keeping the bug opened - we will need to verify NLD specific packages.
Comment 15 Kalman Kemenczy 2006-03-18 21:48:15 UTC
in beta8:

The Volume control on the panel still english like: "Master: xx%", "Mute" and "Open Volume Control"...

Same problem with "Display information...", and also the web updater...

please check the attachments

thanks

zen-updater: Web updater is an SuSE specific application and should be translated inhouse.

Resapplet: Upstream packaging bug.

Mixer: Upstream programming bug.
Comment 25 Stanislav Brabec 2006-03-27 13:53:41 UTC
Resapplet: Upstream programming bug, too. And all provided translations contain exactly two strings for desktop file. It means that application is untranslated.
Comment 26 Stanislav Brabec 2006-03-27 16:06:21 UTC
Resapplet: Fixed.

zen-updater, resapplet, gnome-main-menu: POT files added to LCN.
Comment 27 Stanislav Brabec 2006-04-04 16:41:52 UTC
Untranslatability of mixer (and more applets) is a SuSE Bug.

I suspect gnome-applets-in-proc.patch, because in 10.0 it was OK and it seems that untranslated are applets, which are now in-process.
Comment 28 JP Rosevear 2006-04-04 19:40:43 UTC
Ugh, yes, that could very well be. At this point I don't think the patch is saving us much (except appearances maybe) so we can probably drop it after a quick test.
Comment 29 Stanislav Brabec 2006-04-04 20:39:50 UTC
At least libnotify patch will not compile without this patch. I have a plan, how to fix these issues:
- Include gi18n-lib.h
- Use textdomain() before and after reading applet menu.

I will test it tomorrow, but it seems to help for all cases.

The remaining issue seems to be channel names in the mixer. I will check, what can be done about it.
Comment 30 Stanislav Brabec 2006-04-05 12:09:03 UTC
Fixed I18N of in-process applets (battstat, multiload, mixer). Mixer channel names I18N should come from GStreamer.

API problems for in-process applets reported upstream as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337343
Comment 31 Stanislav Brabec 2006-04-18 17:36:03 UTC
Most strings are translatable and translated.

ALSA mixer channel names I18N is a long time task:
