Description Ralf Prengel 2006-01-24 12:01:40 UTC
Nothing happens starting network-device-configuration and selecting User Controlled with NetworkManager
Comment 1 Michael Gross 2006-01-24 16:03:08 UTC
Hello Ralf,

The most annoying bug page (http://www.opensuse.org/Bugs:Most_Annoying_Bugs#SUSE_Linux_10.1_Beta1) says:

``If you use NetworkManager, network is not setup after installation Edit /etc/sysconfig/network/config and set:

NETWORKMANAGER=yes  (instead of no)''

This is likely your problem. Change this and type `rcnetwork start', after this, everything should work. If the problem resists, please reopen this bug.
Comment 2 Ralf Prengel 2006-01-25 06:42:45 UTC
NETWORKMANAGER=yes ist set
the preoblem is not that the manager isn't working, the problem is that configuration gui comes up using yast.
Comment 3 Michael Gross 2006-01-25 11:26:18 UTC
Oh... sorry, you're all right. I was able to reproduce this:
Try to open the network configuration using the NetWork-Manager in YaST, it will silently fail.
Ralf: Please attach your YaST lofgiles, raising severity to critical.
Comment 4 Ralf Prengel 2006-01-25 11:31:12 UTC
The problem is that the testsystem "died" last night.
I will try to build a new one tomorrow.
Comment 5 Michael Gross 2006-01-25 11:49:58 UTC
Well this is easily reproducible, so I'll reassign this now.
Comment 6 Martin Vidner 2006-01-25 14:45:46 UTC
That is intended: if NetworkManager is running, the network cards will work without further configuration.

(Please mind your English. A missing "not" like in comment 2 makes the bug much harder to understand.)
