Description Mattias Waldau 2006-01-25 15:05:28 UTC
Neither 10.0 or 10.1 internet install CD works with VMWARE. The network card is not recognized.

Please make sure testing opensuse using vmware is a simple as possible, I never test any Linux distribtion on a raw machine, I always start with VMWARE.

(I downloaded all 5 10.0 CDs and then it works fine.)

Why do I have to enter ip-address + directory to the http-site where the downloadable stuff is? Why are there no predefined working sites and a dropdown list. This "install from network" part of the installer is really stone-age.

Hello Matthias,

please don't adress several issues in one bug report. For the second part, please create a new report as enhancement.

As for the first issue:
Which version of vmware and which host OS are you using? Are you certain this is not a problem with the configuration of the virtual machine?
Within the machine, please provide `hwinfo --network' and attch the yast logfiles. Give detailed information about the configuration of the virtual machine, thanks.

Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED.

In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
