Description Alex Loes 2006-01-31 13:16:58 UTC
After a fresh install of opensuse 10.1 b2, no external component to Linux is detected, I mean such as diffenrent partitions on hard disc, nor floppy disk nor USB stick.
Kernel is: Linux linux 2.6.16-rc1-git3-4-default #1 Tue Jan 24 16:43:20 UTC 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Is it possible that the kernel has a bug??

Perhaps, something is wrong about the used drivers.
lsmod shows:

A kernel problem, basesystem?
Comment 2 Alex Loes 2006-01-31 13:56:11 UTC
I found out that the cdrom is mounted, but if you try to open it on My Computer (Arbeitsplatz), the URL media:/hdc tries to open, but it fails. Opening the mountpoint in the filesystem (/media/{volname}) works perfectly.

An lsusb doesn't show anythin connected to.

If this is a kernel issue, how could I get a new kernel installed?

This is a known issue in Beta2, please read the "Most Annoying Bugs"
