Description Raphael Schillings 2006-02-02 11:58:19 UTC
By installation problems, if the installation of a stupid package failed, you could only ignore or try again or start new. I wanna change my CD. Clean it or burn me a new one. I feel me so helpless
Comment 1 Christian Boltz 2006-02-02 12:06:02 UTC
Aren't you able to remove the CD from the drive while the error dialog is open? Or did I get your problem completely wrong?

In short: What _exactly_ is your problem?
Comment 2 Michael Gross 2006-02-02 13:05:49 UTC
Raphael: If there is a problem, please describe it in more detail. This means: Which package do you want to install and what is the error message here? AFAIK there is no package named `stupid'.

Answer in short: No problem, only a wish!

During the installation I have no chance to fix a media problem (read error or similar), cause I have no option to open the drive.
If one package makes trouble (doesn't metter which package), I can only ignore/try again/give up. It would be nice, if I'm able to open the drive (or change CD) additionally.

IMHO a package, that makes trouble, is a stupid package. Not the failure is the problem. I wanna an additional option on the error message. P.e. "eject" or something else.
Comment 5 Michael Gross 2006-02-06 12:45:34 UTC
OK... this would indeed be nice.
Comment 6 Jiri Srain 2006-07-25 12:12:46 UTC
OK, when time permits.

Remember, that you also have the possibility to check the media before you start the installation...

Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED.

In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
