Bugzilla – Bug 148005
unneeded atempt to connect to internet when no network card in the system
Last modified: 2006-02-07 16:37:02 UTC
I am installing beta3 in a vmware machine that has no network card at all. The network detection does understand this very well and deactivates everything. But in the next step Yast tries to connect to the internet, what of course fails. The result is a message box that tells me that Yast could not connect. I would expect either that Yast is smart enough to understand that there is no way to connect to the internet or that at least it asks first before it tries to connect. My memory tells me that Yast does ask when it has found a network card, but I did not cross check that.
The internet test does have radio buttons to skip the test. Anyway, please attach the y2logs: http://www.opensuse.org/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#YaST

Ah, the confirmation screen is correctly skipped when there are no devices but the skipping of the actual test has been broken recently. Fixed in yast2-network-2.13.23.
fixed, *grumble*
